Opportunity: To work with a world-class multidisciplinary workforce that originates and executes robotics technology development and space flight projects for terrestrial and planetary exploration applications. This role is focused on supporting and leading robotics autonomy and motion planning software development efforts for the Mobility and Robotic Systems section at JPL.

A successful candidate has extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in multi-agent robotics autonomy; Conceives and implements highly complex and multifunctional robotics systems from design requirements; Has advanced knowledge and engages in research and development of new multi-agent robotics technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline with typically 6+ years of related experience, or PhD in similar disciplines with typically 2+ years of related experience.
  • General understanding and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in robotics software systems.
  • Advance knowledge of autonomy algorithms and software development for multi-robot systems; including planning, execution, behavior development, motion planning, distributed estimation, and control.
  • Proficient in robotic software development in C/C++ and Python, familiar with software development lifecycle, and code management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate inter-team information flow and to support review of team products

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience in architecting autonomy solutions for robotics and/or aerospace systems.
  • Robotics software integration and field-testing experience.
  • Demonstrated innovation, initiative, and leadership.
  • Experience with NASA and JPL flight software architectures, cFS and/or F-Prime.

The hiring range displayed below is specifically for those who will work in or reside in the location listed. In extending an offer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory considers factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s job related skills, experience, knowledge, and relevant education/training. Hiring range for this job may be adjusted based on primary work location outside of Pasadena, California. This adjusted range will be provided to candidates by the Recruiter when applicable.

$133,952 - $172,224
