Ursa Major relies on suppliers for mission-critical components and services. The Supply Quality Engineering team ensures that suppliers meet Ursa Major’s requirements and push to continuously improve. Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) audit suppliers, problem-solve issues and develop control plans. SQEs also review supplier verification and validation submissions and act as a liaison for supplier quality concerns and questions.
Responsibilities for the assigned suppliers:
- Determine the requirements to qualify suppliers by product, process, or service in collaboration with Engineering and Procurement
- Develop the required quality controls to ensure consistent product and service quality and delivery
- Evaluate supplier quality risk and create a response and contingency plans
- Manage deviation, concession, and requirement clarification requests from suppliers
- Manage open deviation permits and drive deviation permits to permanent changes
- Monitor supplier quality performance and provide periodic reporting or dashboards for stakeholders across the organization
- Issue and review supplier corrective action requests and introduce performance improvement plans to suppliers as necessary
- Problem-solve quality disruptions at suppliers to minimize production schedule impact
- Plan and conduct supplier audits, report audit results, and organize audit finding response verification
- Visit suppliers to strengthen relationships, verify capabilities, and remedy any quality concerns
- Other tasks as assigned by Ursa Major Quality Management
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (or related science field) and 2+ years of relevant experience or 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with various types of inspection equipment
- Ability to evaluate supplier or product conformance to specific requirements
- Excellent communication skills to interface with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Availability to travel up to 50% of the time depending on business circumstances
- Experience participating in or conducting audits
- Concentration-specific experience, like mechanical, additive manufacturing, special processes, or avionics
Preferred Experience
- Experience in the space or aerospace industry
- Experience with various manufacturing technologies including additive manufacturing, machining, heat treating, coating application, avionics, and wiring harness assembly and test
- Experience with AS9100D requirements
- Experience planning and managing audits
- Understanding of GD&T and drawing interpretation

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $90,000 - $130,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
