Bring your passion for space!

Redwire is accelerating humanity’s expansion into space by delivering reliable, economical and sustainable infrastructure for future generations.

Redwire, (via our subsidiary Adcole Space, LLC), is accelerating humanity's expansion into space through the design and manufacture of mission-critical, high reliability optical sensors for satellites providing guidance, navigation, situational awareness, and control capabilities. These technologies have supported nearly 50 years of space missions from NASA planetary missions as far-reaching as Pluto to national security missions.

Summary:

Redwire Space is developing its next generation of star tracker and sun sensors and needs a Senior Hardware Engineer to support this growth. Your primary responsibilities are collaborating with other Electrical engineers and product management, software, mechanical, and others to develop space-qualified hardware PCBs and FPGA designs for our products.  The development includes design, analysis, test, qualification, and documentation of designs, supporting the transition of products from Engineering to Manufacturing.

Redwire Space offers a supportive and innovative work environment and is looking for individual thinking and creativity.  Redwire Space promotes personal development and career growth opportunity in the exciting field of satellite applications, space, and planetary exploration.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn applicable product technology, architecture, and design requirements for space-based component systems.
  • Collaborate with the larger product team to effectively produce optimal hardware designs.
  • Analyze and document design specifications, design verification plans and reports, radiation analysis, worst-case analysis, parts stress analysis, and failure modes and effects analysis. With the support of the software team, bring up and debug PCB, FPGA, and system-level designs.
  • Plan and conduct design verification to ensure designs meet performance, EMC, thermal, radiation, and reliability requirements with appropriate margin.  Evaluate any noncompliance and develop solutions to bring the product into compliance.
  • Support product release cycles, including manufacturing and test.
  • Though typically not part of the role, a willingness to travel if required.

Ideal Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree with five or more years of relevant experience (Masters in Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Experience with PCB based hardware design
  • Experience with SoC-based systems and tools (preferably Xilinx Zynq / Vivado).
  • Understanding of associated analog circuits, including basic amplifiers, filters, ADC/DAC, power conversion and distribution, ESD protection, etc.
  • Hands-on experience building test circuits, the use of power supplies, oscilloscopes, and other lab test equipment.
  • Experience with professional desktop engineering tools on Windows and Linux platforms such as Altium, GIT, RTL Synthesis and Simulation, and MS Office.
  • US citizenship required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Working knowledge of FPGA designs and associated processes (using VHDL).
  • Experience leading one or more successful PCB based hardware design from requirements to product release, including environmental and EMC testing.
  • Understanding of standard digital hardware interfaces such as UART, QSPI/SPI, I2C, DAC/ADC, Ethernet, DDR memories.
  • An ability to conduct analysis such as radiation, worst case, part stress, basic thermal analysis, and reliability analysis.
  • Working user knowledge of Linux as a platform for running test automation.
  • Camera hardware design experience a plus.
  • Willingness to learn, act on feedback, and put in the effort to get the job done.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills that enable effective collaboration, status reporting, and documenting analysis and results.
