Environmental Control and Life Support System Senior Mechanical Engineer

SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic ECLSS Engineer who will primarily be responsible for aiding Axiom’s Space Station Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) Team with designing spacecraft ECLSS systems for the commercial Axiom Space Station. We are looking for an individual who is motivated, passionate about space, and excels at problem solving. The role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work on a collaborative team developing Axiom Station’s Environmental Control and Life Support System
• Apply systems engineering principles to enable ECLSS team success, including the following:

o     Requirements definition and management

o     Interface control and management

o     Verification planning, coordination, implementation, and close-out

o     Life cycle review coordination and support

o     Trade study implementation and management

• Responsible for design, development, and build of ECLSS components per Axiom Station requirements
• Bill of materials preparation and component management
• Creating component specifications and drawings
• Schematic and diagram generation
• Plan and perform testing of ECLSS components and integrated assemblies
• Perform analysis of test results and communicate path forward to team members
• Generate test plans, procedures, and reports

Education & Experience

• BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field required
• 5+ years’ experience in life support engineering, or similar role preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Significant experience with mechanical design and analysis including component sizing and selection
• Hands on experience building, testing and/or assembling hardware
• Preferred experience:
  • GD&T experience and knowledge
  • CAD design and navigation
  • Programming for test and analysis
  • Fluids and thermodynamics experience
  • Full cycle engineering design process
  • NASA Flight Hardware development experience
