As part of a dedicated team, committed to push the boundaries of launch and recovery, you will support the development and build of marine assets to support at-sea space hardware recovery.  This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and reliable marine operations.  You will be responsible for the oversight and execution of development of Blue Origins fleet of marine assets.  You will be involved in requirements development, technical trade study support, risk management and build execution and management in addition to verification planning and testing.  In this role you will be one of the Blue Origin interfaces with external vendors to include shipyards and marine component suppliers.  You will also interface with the American Bureau of Shipping and the United States Coast Guard as well as Blue Origin internal management and customers.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with new vessel construction
  • Experience with standard shipyard construction practices
  • Experience working with the United States Coast Guard and local OCMIs
  • Experience working with American Bureau of Shipping Surveyors
  • Ability to read and assess blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to complete operations within the best practices of the OEM and maximize the performance lifetime of all systems and equipment.
  • Experience developing drawings and specifications to define requirements for vessel repairs and modifications
  • Experience performing work in compliance with CFRs, United States Coast Guard Standards, American Bureau of Shipping Guidelines, and other applicable standards for marine applications
  • Experience with FAT testing marine electrical systems and automation
  • Experience managing build schedules and providing status reports to senior level management
  • Experience leading schedule mitigation efforts during project execution
  • Minimum of a BS degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or Equivalent
  • Strong Project Management, budget management and team leadership skills
  • Experience in sub-contract management of suppliers including request for proposal, specification, and statement of work
  • Minimum of 5 years or relevant experience as a port engineer or in new vessel construction
  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a positive working culture
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national or U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card Holder)

Desired:

  • System Safety analysis experience including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Functional Hazard Analysis
  • Experience with failure investigations
  • Experience supporting proposal evaluations
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes, and quality control

Travel

  • Ability to relocate to Cape Canaveral Florida with 50-70% job related travel
  • International travel required
