Duties

  • Collaborate with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) on all aspects of the office operations including personnel, IT Management, and transformational efforts at Stennis Space Center (SSC).
  • Build and sustains effective communications with all partners and cross-functional teams to maximize the customer experience.
  • Contribute to planning, developing, and negotiating budget/resource allocations to ensure resources meet both budget guidelines and IT requirements.
  • Make technical decisions, consult on delivery of IT and information management services, ensure missions and objectives are met.
  • Provide technical and administrative direction to employees (e.g., select employees, assign work, recommend employee promotions and recognition, approve leave, evaluate performance, implement performance actions, etc.).

  • Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and three months after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

  • If the individual selected is currently at the GS-15 grade level, they will be detailed at their current grade and step. If the individual is a current GS-14 they will be temporarily promoted to the GS-15 level.
  • If selected, you may discuss the possibility of telework or local remote work (within 50 miles of duty location) with your supervisor.
  • A one year supervisory probationary period may be required

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level

  • Leading diverse teams, management experience planning and implementing strategic objectives to support long-term mission plans for Information Technology programs and projects;
  • Supporting the delivery and integration of IT operations and service management, to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization;
  • Working with and across organizational boundaries with all levels of management, other Agency key officials, and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve common goals and outcomes.

AND
IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Qualified NASA term employees who have term conversion eligibility (Term Appointments | NASA) under the NASA Flexibility Act of 2004 will be referred and considered equally with other NASA permanent employees under internal competitive placement procedures.

APPOINTMENT TO THIS POSITION WILL BE TEMPORARY, NOT-TO-EXCEED ONE (1) YEAR. This assignment may be terminated, extended or made permanent at any time without further competition. If the assignment is not made permanent, the individual selected may be returned to the same or similar position from which they were promoted/detailed/temporarily reassigned.
