Blue Origin is seeking an experienced IT Field Support Technician with well-rounded technical abilities and experience delivering world-class customer service and support. The scope for this team includes everything from deployment of new hire hardware, responding to computer and hardware requests, printer and basic conference room support, computer lifecycle management, first and second tier technical break/fix work and supporting the implementation of new solutions or applications. This position will split time supporting two offices in the Arlington and Reston areas respectively. This role is part of the IT Field Support team and will report to a regional IT Support Supervisor.  

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in high pressure, demanding situations where failure to deliver prompt resolution may result in impacts on Test, Launch and/or Manufacturing operations.  You will provide in-person and remote support to ensure all IT equipment and software are running to their optimum performance and that all departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met on your home site as well as any remote sites that you and your team also support. Responsibilities:

  • Provide first and second tier support to Blue Origin employees in-office or remote that need hands-on assistance with their computers/tablets
  • Field walk-up requests from employees on-site
  • Install and configure software and computer systems
  • Analyze records and logs to spot underlying trends and potential issues
  • Test, evaluate and help make decisions about new technology for the business
  • Prepare and deploy computers for new hires and various operational uses, maintain computer lifecycle and inventory integrity
 

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record working in an enterprise-level technical helpdesk or desktop support role for at least one years in addition to AS degree in IT or related field or equivalent additional experience, supporting hardware/software troubleshooting and being in a customer-facing position
  • Extensive experience with Windows OS; Microsoft Office including Project and Visio; Domain account and computer management; Adobe products; Antivirus, Disk Encryption, and VPN applications
  • Assist as smart hands for other IT teams like networking or infrastructure/data center tasks
  • Configure, analyze and repair workstation hardware, peripherals, software components, and printers
  • Experience administering endpoint management software platforms, desktop provisioning technologies such as SCCM and PXE
  • Active Directory security group, computer, and user administration
  • Ability to identify potential changes and system improvements to present to senior team leaders for consideration and implementation
  • Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal direction
  • Customer-centric attitude to support and instruct computer users to provide efficient resolution of complex problems
  • Travel (<10%) as needed within the United States to support remote offices or events
  • Willing to be flexible with scheduled days and hours with reasonable notice as needed during operations or on-call
  • Required to be able to lift/carry up to fifty pounds as well as physically climb multiple flights of stairs, withstand prolonged standing, walk long distances and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Certifications: A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, MCSA, MTA
  • Able to build scripts to accomplish automation tasks using common languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc)
  • Fundamental knowledge of Mac OS and Linux
  • Understand networking infrastructure (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Experience with Atlassian products including writing Wiki pages in Confluence for documentation and knowledge of Jira ticketing systems
