Become part of our team developing the first independent commercial space station. This space station is based on our expandable _LIFE_™ habitat, serviced by _Dream Chaser_® spaceplane, and will provide the facilities and services for commercial research, manufacturing and tourism.  

The Customer Experience team is the voice of the customer and business interests to the technical team, and vice versa. Customer Experience bridges the gap between the technical and business teams and considerations, ensuring that our Space Destinations products are responsive to the demands of the customers, market, and business objectives.

As a User Experience Designer your work will directly affect the design and operation of the vehicles used for people living and working in space. You accomplish this by studying the user experience and measuring how easy it is to complete tasks in an efficient manner while improving ease-of-use capabilities through many different approaches.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Conducting and synthesizing research into journey maps, persona development, and task flow models

  • Rapidly prototyping design solutions

  • Interviewing stakeholders to understand business goals and priorities

  • Understanding product specifications and user psychology

  • Conceptualizing novel experiences

  • Participating in peer design critiques

  • Nurturing effective partnerships with Engineering, Designers, and Business teams

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor degree in interaction design, product design, or a related design discipline; higher education may be considered in lieu of experience. 

  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education

  • Experience conceptualizing, creating, and generating visual solutions for design systems

  • Experience with human-centered design, research planning, and interviewing

  • Fluency with design thinking methodologies

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

  • Excellent organizational, self-initiative, and communication skills

  • Analytical mind with a business acumen

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to articulate design logic

Preferred:

  • A high level of initiative to overcome obstacles and ability to manage competing priorities

  • Experience with implementing human centered design principles into hardware design

  • Experience as a UX or CX designer

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $79,264.96 - $108,989.32
