The Company

Astra's mission is to improve life on Earth from space by creating a healthier and more connected planet. Astra delivered its first commercial payload into Earth orbit in 2021, making it the fastest company in history to reach this milestone, just five years after being founded in 2016. By achieving monthly, weekly, then daily launches, we'll create the infrastructure services our customers need in space to build a healthier and more connected planet. If you're excited by a sense of possibility, the chance to innovate, and make a difference here on Earth, we think you should work here too.

We are the Program Management Team. We give Astra a competitive edge by driving the development and delivery of Astra's internal and external products and services at a market-leading pace. We leverage the best of traditional program management techniques and agile principles. We provide focus through radical prioritization. We look beyond the horizon to identify and thwart threats before they become problems. We continuously improve our human-centered processes in order to drive the right decisions with the right data, at the right time.

As the Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Rocket Avionics, you will own the development and delivery of our Rocket Avionics package and keep us on track in building the next generation of launch services. This includes sensors, controllers, compute hardware, power systems, communication systems, and harnessing.

You will work with a cross-functional team to define schedules, and manage dependencies and risks. Your deliverables will not only enable the development and qualification of Avionics systems, but also the cross-functional teams that rely on those systems.

You will use your leadership skills, technical aptitude, and programmatic judgement to act as a force-multiplier for your team, continuously developing execution strategies to solve problems impeding progress.

You will identify the critical path, and then manage priorities, trade-offs, integration points, and other cross-team coordination.

You will own major program decisions, communicate program status, and set priorities to a range of stakeholders across the company. You will also contribute to the development of longer-term roadmaps in collaboration with product Engineering.

How You’ll Fulfill Your Mission

Plan and execute aggressive but achievable schedules for delivering Avionics hardware systems.

Partner with a full spectrum of cross-functional stakeholders in your program, including Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Test, to help ensure that we are designing, building, and testing the right thing on time.

Provide insight on program status, critical path, risks, and opportunities to de-risk or accelerate our schedule, based on building and maintaining a detailed view of our program schedule with inputs from all teams. Use these insights to prioritize resource, make strategic decisions, and keep us on track to an aggressive but achievable timeline.

Align teams around complex decisions that need to be made along the way - convening stakeholders, getting the right inputs, and driving to decisions in a timely manner..
