SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Electro-Mechanical Technician who will primarily be responsible for aiding Axiom’s Payload Systems Team with assembly of test stands and proto-flight hardware. The Payload Systems Electro-Mechanical Technician will also be responsible for assembly of wiring harnesses, PCB assemblies, and electronic controllers. The role requires maintaining a clean lab environment, organization, time management, and communication skills. This position will be onsite at our headquarters at our Houston, TX.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mechanical/electrical integration of PCB assemblies
  • Build small electrical sub-assemblies
  • Wire harnessing
  • Solder and de-solder of electronical components
  • Support conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating
  • Run functional testing on units
  • Assemble and maintain test stands
  • Manage and maintain lab areas
  • Work with engineers to provide guidance on hardware procurements and assembly
  • Build operates and maintains test systems from schematics and/or drawings
  • Uses shop equipment and various hand tools for hardware assembly
  • Troubleshoots systems and components as necessary
  • Maintains system and component cleanliness while making modifications/repairs to systems
  • Works with minimal supervision and instruction
  • Able to lead and provide technical support for the team
  • Wears PPE appropriate for the task

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years direct electro-mechanical assembly experience
  • Mechanical assembly and integration
  • Electrical assembly and integration
  • 2+ years of Aerospace field
  • Standing for long periods of time and able to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted
  • LABVIEW and NI Hardware integration preferred
  • Arduino/rasp pi coding experience preferred
  • Able to adapt to frequently evolving hardware development and fast paced iterative design preferred
  • Conformal coat support experience preferred
  • Current or past certification for NASA-STD-8739.3, IPC-610 or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience with space flight hardware preferred

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
