The Position

We’re on the hunt for a Jr. Engineer – Control, Simulation and Analysis on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.

As our Jr. Engineer – Control, Simulation and Analysis, you will work on Lunar and Mars rovers, and/or on the Logistics & Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program (to support On-Orbit Space Station activities), and/or Gateway External Robotics System, and/or R&D activities.


The daily duties will include:

  1. Developing Rover autonomous guidance, navigation and controls capabilities: sensors data fusion, localization, terrain modelling and assessment, obstacle detection and avoidance, and path planning and tracking
  2. Developing servo control laws for both robotic arm joints and mechanisms
  3. Performing simulation runs to validate mathematical models, new parameters, and control algorithms
  4. Tuning of the control system parameters of the mechanisms to meet the performance objectives required for the On-Orbit/ planetary surface tasks
  5. Performing simulation runs to analyze loads failures and recovery scenarios
  6. Performing Multibody dynamics modelling, analysis and simulations, including terramechanics and friction-based contact modelling
  7. Performing mission operations analysis using state-of-the-art simulation tools, computer vision algorithms, and AI technologies
  8. Deriving Space Robotics System Requirements
  9. Contributing to technology development (R&D activities)


Interested candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Applied Mathematics. The candidate should have 2 years of hands-on experience in advanced control and dynamic modelling of multi-DOF manipulators and/or experience on Mobile Robot Autonomous Navigation. Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS) and vision algorithms implementation is an asset. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment.
