In this position, you will design test rigs and other ground infrastructure in collaboration with test engineers. You will select materials and design structural parts considering the operating conditions, loads, safety, manufacturing and assembling process, among other requirements. You will use SolidWorks to make 3D designs, technical drawings, as well as BOMs for procurement, while weighing costs and taking local availability of materials and manufacturing resources into account.

More specifically, you will:

  • Design test rigs and fixtures used in:
    • Static and cyclic loads testing
    • Vibration and environmental testing
  • Design structural components for large propulsion test rigs:
    • Engine testing (components and fully assembled)
    • Turbomachinery testing
    • Cryogenic fluid control testing
  • Issue technical manufacturing and assembly drawings for in-house as well as external manufacturing
  • Issue bills of material (BOMs) and drive procurement of COTS components
  • Work in close contact with the test engineers, manufacturing, and assembly staff throughout all stages of the project up until completion



  • CAD technician with experience in design of structural components
  • Knowledge of machining techniques: milling, turning, drilling, and cutting
  • Knowledge of mechanical joining processes: welding, soldering, bolting, and adhesion
  • Flexible attitude towards highly iterative designs, especially in the early design phases
  • Passionate about new space, curious and eager to learn
  • Driven to deliver and constantly push the boundaries
  • Take ownership and accountability for your own actions and mistakes
  • Humble and willing to go our of your way to help others
  • Can-do attitude and outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent English


  • Experience with mechanical test rigs
  • Experience with structural, vibration and/or environmental tests
  • Experience in industrial plants that deal with fluids
  • Experience in civil engineering or similarly large structures
  • Experience in the procuring and assembling process
  • Proficient in SolidWorks
  • German knowledge is a plus
