As the Lead to our Systems Safety team, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be working closely with design partners, developing complex system architectures, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new system safety products and processes through the product lifecycle. As a lead for the system safety team, you will be in charge of identifying and managing overall team milestones and tasking, ensuring all team members have the resources and understanding of their tasking, and supporting/defending all safety related discussions internally and with our customers.

Bachelors of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Experience in, or knowledge of System Safety Engineering analysis and products, including but not limited to fault tree analysis, hazard analysis, computer based control system (CBCS) analysis, must work and must not work function analysis, etc.
Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
Experience leading a team
Experience managing product schedules and team resources
Experience defending analysis products in front of customer panels
Ability to work with minimal information or direction to formulate proposed plans for resolving safety related design/requirement solutions.
Experience with, or knowledge of complex spacecraft systems, with ability to identify cross-functional impacts for changes with-in the system.
Experience with fault tree analysis tools, e.g. CAFTA or SAPHIRE
Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, e.g. DOORS
Practical knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Ability to administer baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures
Exposure to establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $117,040.88 - $160,931.20
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
