Capella is seeking a Systems Engineer to define, lead, and manage our system upgrade and release manage initiative. You will be working cross-functionally across engineering organizations and external stakeholders to continuously deliver new capabilities and enhancements. You will prioritize releases according to business needs, improve the speed and quality of release deployments across our space and ground system systems, and work with engineering teams to build a release process that doesn’t compromise release quality while still maintaining agility.

You will work with the Spacecraft Engineering, Satellite Operations, Ground Software Engineering, Product Engineering, and Customer Success teams to build industry-leading release management process. You will have a demonstrable track record of working with complex software and hardware systems, understanding system architecture and coordinating engineering development and testing to manage complexity, ensure on-time release, and clearly communicating upcoming and planned changes across teams (internal and external) as well as to customers. You will understand and assess how changes in any part of the system may impact others. You will provide feedback on technical feasibility, ensure release quality, and communicate out all changes to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, managing projects and engineers.
  • Expertise in software engineering including the development of modern distributed software systems.
  • Experience working with complex systems with multiple interacting components that can be hardware or software systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full feature release management life cycle from planning, through release and monitoring.
  • Customer-centric mindset, strong communications skills, and the ability clearly communicate changes on an regular basis to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge supporting software services and releases deployed in both cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Comfortable dealing with unknowns, quantifying risk, addressing uncertainty, and working towards executing highly reliable space mission operations services.
  • Experience implementing modern software continuous integration and continuous deployment of best-practices.
  • Good communications skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and enjoyment of learning from and teaching other team new skills.
  • Previous experience working with international and domestic defense and intelligence customers.
  • This position requires special access to conduct the work and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Experience working on flight mission programs, Earth observation missions.
