Information Technology Specialist

Duties

• Provide senior level expertise for the technical evaluation of commercial launch service providers software and information technology systems design, documentation, testing and implementation.
• Identify technical needs and evaluate against program requirements for hardware and software used for launch complex facilities and infrastructure.
• Perform issue evaluation and resolution on all aspects of development and operation, including system performance, configuration, operational capabilities, reliability, and safety. Identify increased risk and initiate necessary actions.
• Assure software systems design and checkout is compatible with NASA test philosophy; review new developments; and determine technical accuracy and adequacy of technical reports.
• Verify all software and information technology hardware requirements for launch complex facilities and ground systems to determine Certification of Flight Readiness while utilizing judgement to identify, characterize, and navigate elevated risk.
• Interface and communicate with launch service providers, program customers, safety stakeholders, and other disciplines to formulate, review, or verify plans, designs, studies, analysis, specifications, or risks.
• Support operational mission activities such as dress rehearsals, simulations, static fires, launches, and landings while providing real-time system and launch commit critical analysis to the ground lead engineer and chief engineer.
• Apply theories, principles, systems, and processes related to software, information technology hardware, systems analysis, security, cybersecurity, and data management.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:

• Evaluating and verifying software methodologies for aerospace or space launch service provider architectures
  including integration with disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems;
• Defining technical requirements and implementing software development, test, release, and/or sustainment of
  software for aerospace/space systems or subsystems; and
• Performing or evaluating aerospace or space ground control information technology hardware through analysis,
  design, fabrication, testing, and/or operation life cycle for the purposes of launch support.

AND
IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
