Duties

  • Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
  • Develops and/or supports government mandatory inspection point requirements to ensure contract quality maintains the required standard levels for operations.
  • Reviews contractor production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements.
  • Verifies that products offered to NASA comply with contractual requirements before they are accepted.
  • Conducts audits of products and processes for conformance to specifications and to detect processing and technical documentation deficiencies recommending corrective action, including establishment of acceptable quality levels.
  • Supports quality surveillance plans to ensure that contractor understands NASA's contractual requirements.
  • Evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of the contractor's quality inspection system and reports those findings via written or verbal, with recommendations to Branch and Division Chief.
  • Reviews the contractor's written quality or inspection procedures (when required by the contract) for adequacy.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-11, you must have:

a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level:

  • Working with jet and propeller aircraft and aircraft systems, including a strong emphasis on aircraft quality, maintenance, and logistics;
  • Utilizing technical requirements, orders and FAA requirements for maintenance, modifications, inspections, testing, and operation of public and civil aircraft and systems;
  • Applying aircraft operations safety requirements and practices for agencies and/or the military.

OR
b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) with a major in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.
OR
c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree with a major in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.
OR
d) LL.M., if related
OR
e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above
