Duties

  • Participate and provide input to Range Engineering on major projects issues, recommends a course of action, and supports the implementation of alternative range and/or range safety procedure and/or processes chosen for various operational functions.
  • Provide communication with Range management and engineering to ensure processes and procedures are followed, as well as timelines and milestones are achieved in an operational environment.
  • Provide guidance and support on hazardous operations such as explosive ordinance handling, air field operations, launch range operations, chemical laboratory support, and/or lifting operations.
  • Provide technical input and execute written procedures and processes for complex systems in accordance with provided range and/or range safety requirements.
  • Serve as Range Ground Operator and performs project liaison duties to support long-and short-range planning activities for all assigned projects and deliverables safely and within mission schedules.
  • Support the management of ground launch facilities in an operational environment such as clean rooms, high pressure systems, cryogenic systems, and hazardous operations.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:

  • Working in hazardous operational environments and using corresponding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to facilitate safe work completion that may include SCAPE suits, clean room clothing or similar;
  • Providing ground support maintenance of range equipment to include operational requirements, routine fabrication activities (as defined by engineering drawings or sketches, maintenance, repair, refurbishment, cleaning, and testing);
  • Applying operational procedures and processes during range operations to include hazardous components and ground support equipment (GSE).

Desired experience: Operating machinery including equipment such as forklifts and box truck.
