We are seeking an experienced and skilled CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Programmer with a proven track record in utilizing Calypso software for precision measurement and quality assurance processes. As a CMM Programmer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our manufacturing processes by programming and operating our CMM equipment using Calypso software. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards and optimizing our production workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • CMM Programming: Develop, optimize, and maintain CMM programs using Calypso software to accurately inspect and measure complex parts and components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role will also include some operating.
  • Measurement Setup: Configure CMM equipment, fixtures, and tooling for precise measurement tasks. Collaborate with engineers and production teams to define measurement parameters and inspection criteria.
  • Operation: Perform thorough inspections of manufactured parts using CMM equipment and Calypso software to ensure conformance to design specifications and tolerances. Identify and document any deviations or non-conformities.
  • Quality: Contribute to the development of Quality Inspection plans and lab procedures.
  • Workflow: Plan work load and work flow through the QC lab and adjust workflow based on changing needs and engineering requests
  • Data Analysis: Interpret and analyze measurement data obtained from CMM inspections using Calypso software. Generate detailed reports, graphical representations, and visual aids to communicate measurement results effectively.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve any programming or equipment-related issues that may arise during the CMM measurement process. Make necessary adjustments to programs and setups to ensure accurate results.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, quality control, and production personnel, to address quality-related concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives by providing insights and recommendations for enhancing measurement techniques, programming methodologies, and overall efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of CMM programs, setup procedures, inspection results, and any modifications made to programs. Ensure documentation adheres to established standards.
  • Training: Train and mentor junior programmers and operators on CMM operation, programming techniques, and effective utilization of Calypso software.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the regular maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of CMM equipment to ensure its optimal functionality and accuracy.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience as a CMM Programmer, specifically using Calypso software for programming and operating CMM equipment.
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX would be an asset, but not required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Profound knowledge of CMM systems and measurement principles. Expertise in creating, editing, and debugging CMM programs using Calypso software.
  • Metrology Expertise: Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), measurement methodologies, and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot measurement discrepancies and optimize CMM programs.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate and reliable measurement results.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to convey measurement data, reports, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Team Player: A collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in CMM programming and/or Calypso software proficiency are a plus.
  • Education: A degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
