Sierra Space’s Orbital Systems and Services (OSS) division focuses on the design, build, and operations of small satellites in support of commercial services and national security space and offers two work locations: Louisville, Colorado and Centennial, Colorado. 

In the Systems Engineering Integration and Test role, you will interface with subsystems and other segments of small satellite programs.  You will help bridge and integrate subsystem engineering through maintaining the engineering baseline, interfacing with internal/external interfaces, building MBSE models of the satellite's functional baseline, and leading/supporting the systems and end-to-end test campaign. In this role you will have the opportunity to work side by side with subsystem leads, AIT leads and support, program management, and the customer. 

Must-haves:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a a TS/SCI level Security Clearance is required for this position. Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 3(three) or more years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple engineering disciplines to identify technical product characteristics to develop requirements specifications
  • Experience in DOORS or similar tool for requirements management, decomposition and publication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams, coordinate, and execute
  • Experience in subsystem or system level fault management design
  • Represent the Systems Engineering team in technical reviews and failure investigations
  • Chair/manage SE working group(s)

Preferred:

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a system engineer.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering and tools such as Cameo.
  • Experience in subsystem or system level fault management design
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
  • Exposure to establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM).
  • Ability to administer baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact
  • trade studies and other measures.
  • Demonstrated ability to chair working groups and diplomatically lead teams through issues to resolution.

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
  • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)
  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials
  • Rarely exposed to loud noises

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $104,827.91 - $144,138.38
