Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Buyer who is preoccupied with big questions: Where do we go from here? What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Buyer who will primarily be responsible for aiding Axiom’s Procurement Manager with purchasing materials, supplies or equipment for the company. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about customer service and excels at problem solving. The role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Issue purchase orders quickly and without error and ensure purchase orders are acknowledged by suppliers.
  • Obtain the original promise date from suppliers.
  • Review open order report and manage deliveries.
  • Resolve invoice issues.
  • Expedite parts as necessary.
  • Develop sourcing lists for various commodities to support the development of requests for information (RFIs), quotations (RFQs), proposals (RFPs) and invitations to bid.
  • Prepare Requests for quotes and proposals, comparisons, recommendations, and justifications.
  • Review proposals; negotiate price, payment, and delivery terms; select or recommend suppliers; analyze trends; follow up on orders placed; and verify delivery, demonstrating our competency of cost-consciousness.
  • Confer with suppliers and analyze suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules specific to an identified geographic location.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
  • Prepare cost/price analysis documentation in accordance with Procurement Policies and Procedures, in alignment with our core value of integrity and demonstrating our competency of ethics.
  • Maintain supplier files and purchase order records in accordance with established policies, procedures, and audit guidelines to ensure compliance through the procurement cycle.
  • Actively manage the procurement process from order placement, receipt of products, and subsequent payment of invoices
  • Work with the receiving department to resolve outstanding overages, shortages, & damage reports, demonstrating our competency of problem solving.
  • Works with quality to document supplier performance
  • Negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make better deals for the company, in alignment with our core values of innovation and together.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years equivalent experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience in aerospace industry and knowledge of FAR and DFAR preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with demonstrated record of work at a start-up.
  • Costpoint experience a plus
  • Purchasing experience, specifically related to capital equipment or indirect buying.
  • Remarkable problem-solving skills with a bias for speed
  • Ability to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to conduct all activities with the highest degree of integrity.

Essential Functions

  • Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
