SUMMARY

As an Information Security Intern at Firefly, you will play a vital role in implementing and monitoring security controls to protect Firefly�s data from cyber-attacks, loss, or unauthorized access. You will be responsible for maintaining strong endpoint security through device patching and file encryption. You will also have the opportunity to assist in conducting cyber security training programs designed to educate an organization�s computer users. You will work closely with the Information Security Team to keep Firefly�s security system up and running. This will include implementing and testing new security features, managing user access control, planning computer and network upgrades, troubleshooting issues, and responding to security incidents. As an Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow under the guidance of the Information Security Manager while also being the primary point of contact for any IT security-related tasks/issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the implementation of security policies and procedures
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and patching
  • Assist in the investigation of security incidents
  • Work with various teams to ensure compliance with security standards
  • Conduct research on emerging security threats and recommend solutions
  • Assist in the deployment and maintenance of security technologies

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in either a BS or MS program (or a recent graduate) at an accredited four-year university or college.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
  • Willing to work in a hands-on, constantly evolving environment
  • Detail orientated, managing multiple priorities while maintaining focus towards a common goal
  • Strong interest in information security
  • Familiarity with security concepts and technologies
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Desired:

  • Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and tools (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, Wireshark)
  • Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus software
  • Knowledge of common programming and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell
  • Familiarity with cloud computing and related security considerations
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Certifications in information security (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP) are a plus but not required.
