Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.

• The Software Simulation and Test Environments Group at JPL designs and builds high-fidelity workstation-based and hardware-in-the-loop simulators for supporting the development and testing of the avionics systems.  We are part of JPL’s Autonomous Systems Division that designs, builds, and pilots spacecraft to explore remote destinations in our solar system. 

  We are looking for an experience and self-driven software engineer with a passion for writing simulation software.   As a software engineer in this group, you will design, build, and test software that simulates complex avionics hardware and physical environments. 

  Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • Must be available to work full-time (40 hrs/wk) for 10 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2023
  • Proficient in C/C++ and Python programming languages
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
  • Coursework in object-oriented programming and data structures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment.

   

  Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship or projects with significant C/C++ or Python programming
  • Internship or experience with embedded programming
  • Knowledge and hands-on programming experience in writing simulation software
  • Coursework in operating systems, multi-threaded programming, computer architecture, algorithms, programming languages, software engineering, computer science theory, embedded programming
