Maxar is seeking a MMIC Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, Ca. As part of the Product Assurance group, we are responsible for the selection and qualification of all Electrical, Electronic, Electromagnetic (EEE) parts and materials for Maxar’s LEO, GEO and special purpose Spacecrafts. Our group also writes the high-level space related process requirements for Maxar. This role is specifically oriented toward engineering of RF electronic device associated with their development, procurement, and testing. As a diverse group of engineers, the role will require taking on task associated with a variety of other EEE parts.

In this role, you will be a member of the Parts, Materials and Processes team. The team is responsible for all EEE parts, all materials and process used to build a variety of space vehicles. You will be responsible for the investigation, qualification and approval of different types of electronic part types mostly related to RF design and will investigate and resolve issues that may arise during the use of already approved parts. This approval of parts or investigation of issues may also involve travel to various places around the world to complete the task. To be successful in this position, you must be able to work well with others, communication effectively and be able to fully document the issues and resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with RF Design engineers to understand performance and use requirements

  • Write and review parts procurement documents for high frequency EEE parts

  • Work with parts suppliers to define screening, qualification, packaging, etc. to be performed by the manufacturer

  • Maintain existing database of parts

  • Review test data and process flow documents for compliance to requirements

  • Assist other groups in performing upgrade testing

  • Data analysis and binning for performance levels

  • Work within a team and be flexible to take on tasks outside of your comfort zone

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering discipline/STEM field

  • 5 or more years experience with Radio Frequency (RF) device development, test, and manufacturing

  • Must have experience with manufacturing of GaAs/GaN Wafers/MMICs. Ideal candidate will also have knowledge of failure modes associated with the fabrication and use of these types of devices.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn how to use custom database programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Team player – ability to work across multiple functional organizations to develop and implement solutions

  • Hands on person – capable of understanding the issues and performance of RF devices and use sound engineer practices to find appropriate solutions to issues.

  • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills, which include customer communication and technical writing

  • Ability to work methodically to identify issues and develop solutions

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$113,000.00 - $188,000.00 annually.
