SUMMARY

The Avionics hardware design group is responsible for the design of high-reliability avionics systems for Firefly launch vehicles and spacecraft. As an FPGA Firmware Engineer, you will work in a small collaborative group through all stages of the launch vehicle and spacecraft design.

Activities include system architecture, design, sub-system integration and test support. You will have full ownership of your project from the initial concept through all phases of the design, analysis, manufacturing and launch/on-orbit support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog for SoC programmable logic
  • Modify device tree and Linux kernel for SoC processor integration
  • Create flight-quality images for Xilinx and Microchip devices
  • Testing/Debugging designs on hardware for bring-up and meeting project requirements
  • Support other aspects of SoC development such as architecture, design, analysis, and test
  • Create associated design documentation (requirements, verification plans, reports, etc)
  • Develop infrastructure scripts for build and test
  • Establish SoC design best practices and process
  • Collaborate with a firmware design team in an Agile project management workflow

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of FPGA/SoC software design and development is required
  • HDL programming experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog
  • Experience with SoC systems running embedded Linux
  • Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming
  • Experience with static timing analysis
  • Experience with source control (Git)
  • Hands-on experience with embedded systems in a lab-based environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired

  • 5 years of SoC based software development experience
  • Experience with Microchip devices and Libero SoC
  • Experience with C, C++, Bash, TCL
  • Experience with continuous integration tools and build systems
