Responsibilities and Duties  

We are looking for a full-time Aerospace Engineer passionate about working with spacecraft.  This new position will assist on calibration and development activities within the Geometric Calibration Team, with emphasis on attitude determination and geolocation accuracy, performing calibration and commissioning of new MAXAR space imaging platforms while maintaining the accuracy and performance of the existing on-orbit constellation.

In this role, you will demonstrate knowledge or experience in satellite Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS) or Guidance, Navigation, and Control Systems (GNC). You will work to develop cloud-enabled calibration services while improving the underlying functionality of the service / scientific core.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Principal level candidates will have a Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering with a focus on satellite ADCS or Guidance, Navigation, and Control Systems (GNC) as well as 10-15 years of experience, or a PhD with 5-10 years of experience
  • Sr Staff level candidates will have a Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering with a focus on satellite ADCS or GNC as well as 5-10 years of experience, or a PhD with 3-53-5 years of experience
  • Kalman filtering experience applied to satellite attitude or attitude determination in coursework and in a professional setting
  • Experience with agile satellite ADCS ConOps, sensors, and actuators
  • Skilled in astrodynamics, rotational kinematics, and feedback control systems
  • Strong background in Optimal Estimation Theory
  • Experience programming in C++, in addition to either , Matlab, or Python
  • Comfortable working in a Unix/Linux environment and using Git for version control
  • US citizenship

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with other estimation and analysis techniques such as Digital Filtering, Least Squares, or Monte Carlo analysis
  • Experience calibrating on-orbit attitude sensors
  • Willing and able to acquire a US government security clearance at the secret level
  • Experience or interest in Cloud Computing and associated technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
  • Knowledge or experience in visual satellite modeling software – STK or other

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$101,000.00 - $169,000.00 annually.

 

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
