Maxar is currently seeking students to join our 2023 robotics summer intern program in Westminster, CO or Pasadena, CA.
Maxar develops robotic solutions to tackle some of the toughest problems in space. From on-orbit assembly of satellites to planetary exploration, Robotics at Maxar is pushing the boundaries of space robotics. These technologies are a key steppingstone to creating larger and more complex space infrastructures that will continue to open space to commercial opportunities.
For more than two decades, we have empowered innovative commercial and government programs, including robotic arms on six of NASA’s Mars rovers and landers. This is your chance to join a highly capable team of roboticists and software engineers to see your work push the boundaries of space exploration. This is a requisition for summer of 2023 intern positions with involvement in the development of robotics software systems.
Life with Us
As a Robotics Software Engineering Intern you will help our team develop custom software to control our robotic systems, ground and operations software to communicate with and command those systems, as well as develop the custom tools we use to develop, build, and analyze those systems.
Maxar is looking for robotics software interns to help with these tasks:
Develop robotic control algorithms such as visual servo, compliance control, and rover navigation
Virtual and augmented reality robotic operations software
Design and develop small-scale demonstration robotics
Placement of individual interns within each of these software roles will be based on intern's background, intern's areas of interest and Maxar need.

Minimum requirements for this position:
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Current enrollment in a degree program in computer, electrical, aerospace engineering, or relevant robotics field of either:
Bachelor’s degree program with completion of 2 years or more
Graduate degree program
These skills would be amazing:
Fluency with C, C++, C#, or Python
Familiarity with ROS/ROS2
Experience with 3D engines such as Unity
Experience working with mechanical and electrical hardware
Salary: $20-41.50/hr depending on level of education and experience
Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$13.13 - $21.88 hourly.
