As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, engineers, you will fill the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Manager role. This team member owns and maintains structural/mechanical, avionics, and launch support system equipment. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the New Shepard Operations and Maintenance Ground team by ensuring avionics, structural/mechanical, and launch support systems are ready for safe sub-orbital spaceflight. This is a hands-on position passionate about prioritizing, scheduling, tracking, and reporting the maintenance, implementation, activation/commissioning and anomaly resolution for New Shepard. You will identify and communicate risks and opportunities to project/mission schedules to ensure efficient implementation of new equipment and maintenance/refurbishment projects. You will be responsible for all aspects of the GSE upon delivery including configuration control, preventative maintenance, unplanned corrective maintenance, anomaly resolution, and system testing. Design and systems engineers will work directly with you to ensure maintenance and implementation are completed and verified to engineering specifications. You will also be required to author and own the pre & post flight GSE procedures and other work instructions for technicians to perform work safely and optimally. This team member will be presenting GSE readiness status for gated reviews including Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR) and Flight Readiness Reviews (FRR), as well as communicating scope, schedule and resource loads for Mission Scope Reviews (MSR). We coordinate with New Shepard Vehicle Managers, Integration Engineers, Facilities and other facets to plan and tackle issues that arise. People on the NSOM Ground team are self-starters that take ownership of projects through the entire product lifestyle and deliver results.

  • Strong project management skills to specify requirements, establish roles/responsibilities, coordinate resources, develop & supervise project plans, and communicate projects status.
  • Experience working with or around structural/mechanical equipment, avionics/electrical control systems, audio/video equipment, and ground communication systems.
  • Author detailed/accurate work instructions/procedures for the implementation, maintenance, operation, and corrective actions on GSE systems.
  • Ability to identify operational impacts and develop concept of operations for equipment to integrate into maintenance and operations activities.
  • Ability to work in small- to medium-sized teams integrating multiple subsystems to meet top level system requirements
  • Experience in sub-contract management of suppliers including request for proposal, specification, and statement of work
  • Strong safety attitude and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, software or avionics)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusion focused culture.
  • If Kent, WA based - ability to travel up to 35% to support maintenance and launch operations as required to our West Texas launch site.

  • PMP Certification
  • Experience leading all aspects of the operation and maintenance of industrial hydraulic systems.
  • Experience supervising the maintenance and operation of RF equipment.
  • Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing, integration, and testing
  • Experience interfacing electrical/avionics equipment with flight network systems.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes, and quality control

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $121,500-$178,200
