The Sr. Payroll Coordinator reports to the Payroll Manager and performs a wide variety of recordkeeping and payroll processing activities, including payroll runs, labor timesheet adjustments including maintaining labor adjustment database, processing contractor timesheets and staffing agency invoicing activity. Assists in timesheet audits and responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll. Processes and adheres to garnishment orders in making sure proper payroll deductions are taken and creditor payments are processed timely. Handles and processes employee relocation moving reimbursements according to policy.

Job Responsibilities
Ensure timely accurate calculations of wages, tax withholdings, and employee deductions
Prepare and reconcile payrolls, direct deposit files, labor, and payroll postings
Manage moving expense reimbursements for all Sierra Space employees
Provide first level review of staffโs work
Manage timesheet labor adjustments, ensure timely labor posting of contract labor staff timesheets to Sierra Space general ledger, and proper invoicing and payment processing to the staffing agencies
Complete the required state quarterly Multiple Worksite reporting
Act as a liaison between the Payroll Department and Information Systems to ensure the payroll system is updated and maintained with any software updates and tax table updates, and adhere to Federal, State, Local, DCAA, and FAR requirement compliance standards, to support Accounting, Internal Compliance, and DCAA audit
Assist with audit schedules for internal and external auditors as needed
Be responsible for supporting accurate and timely completion of Payroll month-end closing process, perform monthly Payroll related balance sheet account reconciliations
Provide support for special ad-hoc projects as directed
Must Haves:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and typically 3 or more years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Working knowledge of payroll reporting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and applicable regulations, including understanding of Fair Labor Standards Act, Federal and State laws relating to payroll taxes, and various state employment and pay requirements
Progressive experience analyzing, auditing, reconciling and resolving complex payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensure smooth payroll processing
Ability to research and interpret applicable regulatory requirements and resolve tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing
Progressive Microsoft Excel data analysis experience including Pivot tables, macros, etc
Experience with Automated Accounting Systems, preferably Costpoint and/or SAP
Ability to work independently on assigned projects
Consistently strives to improve processes and gain efficiencies, including participation in the testing of new accounting and other system functionalities
Analytical abilities, time management, organizational and communication skills are essential
Preferred:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or pursuing
Knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting procedures
Working knowledge of FAR and CAS
Excellent administrative skills as demonstrated by experience with a Payroll / HRIS administration system
Ability to problem solve - applying originality, creativity, and initiative
Strong skills to plan, organize, multi-task, prioritize, and execute assigned workload to meet multiple deadlines
Detail-oriented, without losing sight of the big picture
Able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
