About the Role

Capella is currently seeking an RF Test Engineer to join our spacecraft production team in San Francisco, CA. The spacecraft production team is responsible for integration, test, and verification of everything that ultimately goes to space, as well as the supporting ground test infrastructure. You will be collaborating cross-functionally with RF systems design, ground software, mechanical, and spacecraft operations teams to deliver RF subsystems and verify RF performance at the spacecraft assembly level.


  • Bring-up and test of RF subassemblies
  • Verification and troubleshooting of RF subsystems through all phases of spacecraft integration
  • Support R&D device characterization & design validation testing
  • Contribute to automation scripting / fixture development
  • Develop test procedures and contribute to process streamlining
  • Manage PCBA fabrication & assembly jobs
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation (parts lists, drawings)


  • BSEE + 3 years related experience, or MSEE + 1-year related experience
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and arbitrary waveform generators
  • Basic knowledge of RF system architecture and impairments
  • Basic knowledge of antenna properties and transmission line theory
  • Hands-on experience working with RF PCB-based circuits


  • Hands-on experience with high-power RF electronics
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience in space systems or another mission-critical field
  • Familiarity with Linux systems
  • Surface-mount soldering experience
