This position supports the Dream Chaser System Autonomy and Fault Management (SAFM) team through the following:

  • Design Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) algorithms considering timing, memory, and other guidelines producing the necessary documentation to support peer and engineering review board approval
  • Implementing those algorithms for execution on-board the spacecraft using the vehicleโ€™s framework for telemetry monitoring and commanding, collectively called CMAS
  • Synchronize CMAS products with a Command and Telemetry Database and FSW architecture to ensure consistent build products
  • Collaboration with subsystem cognizant engineers and multiple stakeholders through Integrated Product Teams to identify flight-like fault injections and translate those concepts into executable scripts to run on the mission simulation software to exercise the CMAS implementation
  • Track CMAS testing activities to ensure verification with requirements traceability
  • Support the creation of flight-like scenarios that realistically simulate the various mission phases for testing and verification of CMAS.
  • Provide support to flight software development and hardware/software integration
  • Create post-processing tools to capture test data automatically; provide an automated assessment; and prepare test data for easy reduction and analysis by reviewers
  • Support to AI&T and Flight Operations during testing, mission simulation, and mission execution

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree (Masterโ€™s preferred) in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Test data analysis and root-cause analysis experience
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Experience working with Integrated Product Teams that include stakeholders from multiple spacecraft disciplines

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of spacecraft system and subsystem FDIR
  • Understand spacecraft autonomy concepts including the creation of command sequences that execute on-board a spacecraft
  • Experience writing test cases and test scripts
  • Experience with: C/C++, Python, configuration management (e.g. - Subversion, Windchill), and test data reduction/review concepts
  • Understand spacecraft hardware channelization, telemetry generation, and data latencies
  • Understanding of peer review processes (e.g. - Jira)
  • Exposure to requirements management and verification
  • Experience with proper precautions for interacting and using space flight-equivalent and flight-use hardware
  • Experience working with NASA; preferably human spaceflight programs
  • Flight Operations Experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances
