Quantify the impacts of riverine outflow on the biogeochemistry of the Arctic Ocean, particularly the shallow coastal regions near the Mackenzie Delta and along Alaska's North Slope. Gather chemical and isotopic signatures related to amplified Arctic hydrologic cycling and link to other cycles, particularly carbon cycling. Identify signatures of permafrost state change and its consequences for perturbations to the Arctic land-ocean continuum.
Will work with the NASA ABoVE, Arctic COLORS, and IDS-19 teams to synthesize results with state of the art ECCO-Darwin models tailored for the Arctic Ocean.
Publish results in the peer-reviewed literature
PhD in Arctic Systems Science, Geology, or the equivalent. Desire some previous postdoctoral experience. Expertise in Arctic field work, chemical and isotopic analyses, including 14C. Interest in fusing field data with airborne and/or satellite remote sensing data. Ability to work well in a scientific team. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
The appointee will carry out research in collaboration with the JPL advisor, resulting in publications in the open literature.
Applicants may be subject to additional program requirements by NASA. Postdoctoral Scholar positions are awarded for a minimum of one-year period and may be renewed up to a maximum of three years.
