Maxar is looking for a Senior Staff Quality Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA.  We have amazing talent in other areas such as production quality and supplier quality, and we need someone on the Front-End quality group to help us mitigate design risks proactively.

Your Mission: You are charting a new approach to build quality in design early on.  The team already has members skilled in creating viable quality management system, but we need you to help us detect risks during design development and evaluate/implement appropriate solutions & processes.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

• Develop, deliver, and manage plans (quality plan, risk management plan) and requirements (safety, functionality, regulatory, usability) that ensure provisions for quality are addressed and resolved prior to product release.

• Perform risk identification, risk management and problem management activities as appropriate and necessary.  Employ process and system analysis to determine how to build safeguards and process changes to prevent nonconformities.

• Contribute to supplier selection process, design reviews, product qualification process and design verification and validation.  Audit suppliers to ensure compliance to quality management system and advance product quality. 

• As needed, Create and/or Modify quality documents like Boundary Diagram, P-Diagram, Design FMEA, Process FMEA, DVPR, Gage R&R and Control Plans.  Facilitation of DFMEAs and PFMEAs.

• Review all Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Significant Characteristics (SC), Key Product Characteristics (KPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Tolerance Stack-up studies to address all Quality issues.

Minimum requirements for this position:

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Statistics, or other science/engineering-related discipline. 

• 5 years of experience in quality engineering or a related technical field, with experience working in development engineering and/or systems engineering. 

• Lean Six Sigma, SPC, APQP/AS9145, AS9100/ISO9001, PPAP and DFMEA/PFMEA knowledge.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and analytical skills.

These skills would be amazing:

• Six Sigma Greenbelt or DFSS Blackbelt certification.

• Advanced experience with data analysis and tools. 

• Experience in space or aerospace.
