Become part of our team developing the first independent commercial space station. This space station is based on our expandable _LIFE_™ habitat, serviced by _Dream Chaser_® spaceplane, and will provide the facilities and services for commercial research, manufacturing and tourism.  

As part of the Destinations Customer Accommodations (CA) Team, this Systems Engineer position will work with the Customer Accommodations team, payloads teams, and Space Station Systems Engineering and Design teams regarding payload and customer infrastructure integration and utilization support. Coordinating across program IPTs representing payload and customer requirements and resource needs is vital to the successful integration of payloads and customer support infrastructure into Destinations programs.  

This Systems Engineering and Integration role will be the main liaison to the space station System Engineering and Integration Teams (SEIT), responsible for the Customer Accommodations systems engineering products such as payload and customer requirements, IRDs and ICDs, ConOps, functional decomposition, resource allocations, payload integration plan, etc. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, allocation, and verification.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Logistics or related discipline and typically six (6) or more years of relevant experience; higher education may be considered in lieu of experience

  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education

  • Experience performing Systems Engineering at the spacecraft level

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices

  • Ability to read and understand technical requirements, engineering drawings, and other documentation

  • Demonstrated experience briefing technical subjects to both technical and non-technical people and delivering key messages and insights from analysis products

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

Preferred:

  • Experience developing payload requirements for implementation on crewed orbiting platforms

  • Experience determining and optimizing payload integration and operations efforts

  • Experience authoring procedures for payload integration

  • Experience with performing payload integration

  • Experience negotiating contracts requirements with vendors

  • Ability to explore multiple options, anticipate problems, and implement mitigations

  • Ability to decompose a large complicated problem into manageable pieces, understand such problems from different points of view, and explain issues and solutions to other engineers

  • Comfortable with both open professional debate and accepting team decisions

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $104,827.91 - $144,138.38
