Space Forge is a fast-growing in-space manufacturing company. We are developing the world’s first returnable and re-launchable satellite platform, the ForgeStar. Space Forge is transforming return from space to enable new techniques to produce products and services for the benefit of all.

The ForgeStar can support a wide array of missions, from in-space manufacturing of new materials and microgravity research, to planetary landing systems and deep space exploration.

We are now in a position to bring on board a CFO who has a desire to be part of our journey to build something unique and special. Someone who has experienced fast company growth and the challenges that come along with it.

What will you do?

Challenge status quo: challenge values!
Provide analysis, insights, and short-term outlook, according to stakeholder’s needs, with focus on operational efficiency and steering of cost evolution
Understand team goals and priorities, and how you can contribute to their achievement from a financial standpoint
Ensure regular reporting for CTO teams (Product and Engineering) and Business Functions (CEO, People, Programmes, Sales) are produced
Team-up with the People team for headcount cost and salary forecasting
Participate in business process improvement initiatives
Provide investor reporting and insights as needed

Key responsibilities

Financial Strategy

Build a long-term and 3-5yr strategic plan
Develop long-term financial plans (business plan, yearly/quarterly budgets, cash flow analysis) and preparation for ESA/UKSA work
Establish advanced financial reporting dashboards with growth KPIs
Provide support for investment activities (revenue modelling, data rooms etc)
Partner with the CEO to determine funding needs and explore spending augmentation strategies (reviewing suppliers, subscriptions etc)
Partner with founders and growth leadership to find, create and implement company efficiencies
Overseeing and advising on foreign company presence with the view to creating European and US subsidiaries.

Financial Operations and leadership of team

Management and coordination of accounting firms
Monthly controls of financial statements
Management of supplier invoicing with Accounts and Procurement teams
Supervise the team in charge of daily reconciliation and accounting procedures
Optimize and automate current financial operations to guarantee scalability

Your Profile

You have at least 5 years of professional experience in high-growth, fast-scaling,global organizations
You know how to combine strategic/financial thinking with hands-on, operational requirements
You’re rigorous with the numbers with strong attention to detail
Most importantly, you know how to business partner effectively with non-financial stakeholders, not just providing data, but understanding of the business, analysis, insights, and forward-looking views
You are a self-starter, at ease working in a fast-changing organization where people focus on results, rather than bureaucracy
You’re an expert with spreadsheet and presentation applications
Mentoring or people management experience - you’ll have one team member to start.
Desirable: Accountancy qualifications at ACA, ACCA or CIMA level
Highly Desirable: Experience with international expansion and subsidiary creation

Salary range: £80,000 - £110,000 pa depending on experience and brilliance
