Opportunity: To work with an enthusiastic multidisciplinary workforce that originates and executes robotics technology development and space flight projects for terrestrial and planetary exploration applications. This role is focused on supporting and leading multi-agent robotics autonomy software development efforts for the Mobility and Robotic Systems section at JPL.

A successful candidate works with customers to develop viable software specifications, will be involved in the entire lifecycle of software system deployment and maintenance (i.e. planning, development, deployment, maintenance, etc.) and works with customers to build test plans; coordinates the testing process for software components. The primary projects would be support for the CADRE multi-rover autonomy lunar technology demonstration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline with typically 6+ years of related experience, or PhD in similar disciplines with typically 2+ years of related experience.
  • General understanding and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in robotics software systems.
  • Robotics software integration and field-testing experience
  • Proficient in robotic software development in C/C++ and Python, familiar with software development lifecycle, and code management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate inter-team information flow and to support review of team products

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience in architecting autonomy solutions for robotic and/or aerospace systems.
  • Demonstrated innovation, initiative, and leadership.
  • Experience with NASA and JPL flight software architectures, cFS and/or F-Prime.
