What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

SUMMARY: This position will work on-site at our headquarters in Houston, Texas and will manage the Integrated Performance & Analysis (IP&A) group for the Systems Engineering & Integration Team. This position will manage the team and development of the Axiom Integrated Vehicle Model (IVM) to support the integrated analysis for verifying human space flight systems design and performance.

  • Provide technical and managerial leadership to the IP&A Team. 
  • Lead engineering team members in the planning, design, development, and verification of a complex, integrated vehicle simulation package
  • Identify and add team members with key skillsets and competencies needed to support integrated station analysis.
  • Leverage technical modeling and simulation skills and collaborate with engineering team members to overcome challenges and meet deadlines.
  • Manage the same objectives for additional modules of the integrated Space Station.
  • Utilize the Integrated Vehicle Model functionality to support module design, design assessment, and generate performance reports.
  • Mentor, guide, and support engineers as they tackle technical, challenging issues.
  • Support other Systems Engineering and Integration functions as needed.
  • Serve as the prime liaison between subsystem POCs, external customers, and partners for design, analysis, and production of integrated solutions involving modeling and simulation.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, Masters preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of spacecraft operations and/or aerospace systems engineering experience
  • 5+ years' experience leading teams
  • 3+ years' experience with Software development skills using either Java, C++, or Python
  • 5+ years' experience working with Modeling and Simulation Tools and Technologies
  • Effective in working in a start-up environment with the ability to lead, drive and implement tactical change
  • Ability to effectively prioritize scope for effective team implementation to meet milestones
  • Ability to lead requirements allocation, design trades and performance assessments across all spacecraft subsystems
  • Experience leading or managing technical teams
  • Candidate must also have some experience managing schedules
  • Able to write reports, correspondence, and operations procedures. Uses effective written, visual presentation, and oral strategies to communicate technical problems and concepts to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
  • Reasoning Skills—Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, apply visual and spatial reasoning
  • Possess strong analytical skills; ability to use MS Excel and other tools to structure, synthesize, analyze, and present data findings
  • The candidate must be able to develop presentations on-demand and produce quality results
  • Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment and to take the initiative with limited direction
  • Candidate must be flexible in a fast-paced environment of constantly changing requirements and work well within a team environment

 Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  •  General or specialized knowledge in one or more of the following spacecraft subsystems: Attitude Control, Propulsion, Power, Data Handling/Onboard Processing, Thermal, Mechanisms, TT&C, Payload, Flight Dynamics and Orbit Mechanics a plus
  • Software skills may include: 6DOF Trajectory Design, Monte Carlo analysis, C++ Programing, Python, Trick, Chronos simulation, SolidWorks, C&T, Thermal Desktop, AutoCAD, MATLAB

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.


• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
