Maxar is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA.ย  At Maxar, we are building upon our 60 year legacy of innovation, from designing the high gain antennas for NASAโ€™s Voyager 1 and 2 which have raced beyond the heliosphere through interstellar space to establishing ourselves as the industry leader in geostationary satellites delivering services like broadband internet access, satellite radio, and direct-to-home satellite television.ย  We are now designing the next generation of earth imaging satellites, building the Psyche spacecraft to study asteroids, and partnering with NASA on our PPE program in their effort to return humans to the moon!

To continue as the leader in the space industry, the Systems Engineering organization is looking for a Systems Engineer to participate in verification and production systems engineering activities to support our current programs.ย  You will apply the systems engineering rigor and discipline as you author test requirement documents, test plans, and test procedures.ย  Your focus will primarily be on verification, integration, and validation activities including spacecraft-level testing, data review, and troubleshooting.ย  We are currently seeking candidates with broad engineering backgrounds along with a strong foundation in a particular technical area to transition into our team.ย  Additionally, you may act as an interface and liaison between the customer and systems engineering team to facilitate communication between the two while resolving key system decision issues.ย 

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Author spacecraft-level test documents test requirement documents, test plans, and test procedures
  • Oversee and perform hands-on spacecraft-level testing
  • Lead and perform spacecraft or sub-system level troubleshooting activities
  • Review all spacecraft test data and support test results sell-off with the customer
  • Close out spacecraft-level non-compliance reports
  • Lead MRBs (Material Review Boards)
  • Support launch base activities and testing prior to spacecraft launch

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, Physics, or other technical field.
  • 2 years of engineering or engineering operations experience. A Master's degree may account for two years of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masterโ€™s degree or higher in an engineering discipline, Physics, or other technical field.
  • General understanding of spacecraft design, space environments and concerns, and space product life cycles
  • Relevant systems engineering experience in aerospace or related industry
  • Experience with requirements management systems (i.e. DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
  • Familiarity with software architecture, verification, and validation
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio
  • Experience coding in C, C++, Python, or Matlab & creating software tools for verification activities a plus
  • Good communication and presentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Familiarity with risk management
