Maxar is seeking an FP&A analyst to work within our FP&A Department. This position will provide financial analysis for the Maxar Space segment will oversee day-to-day financial planning processes including budgeting, monthly reporting and variance analysis. The FP&A team works closely with the CFO and senior executives to execute programs and support the functional organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support Segment management to ensure financial stability of the portfolio including direct and indirect costs, and capital projects
Perform monthly variance analysis for these costs, using this analysis to identify risk and opportunities
Provide program and organization metrics to support decision making
Support the monthly/quarterly financial reporting cycle both internally and for corporate reviews
Ensure adequate internal controls are performed
Build knowledge of Maxar's business, to become key financial business partner to Maxar organizations. Translate and interpret financial data into operational recommendations to improve and accelerate the business
Assess the risks and opportunities of the forecasted plan to ensure accuracy of reporting of financial metrics; especially Revenue, Profit and Cash
Support preparation of Annual Operating Plan (AOP); Strategic Growth Plan (SGP)
Provide ad hoc financial modeling and financial analysis
Support special projects and process improvements within FP&A
Works closely with accounting to ensure continuity and understanding in journal entry accruals / adjustments
Continually seek ways to improve and streamline processes with keen focus on automation to allow maximum efforts on strategic analysis and decision making
Development of team and employee talent with stretch goals; develop pipeline talent to ensure no single point of failure in the organization
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Undergraduate degree from an accredited university
Minimum of 8 years of overall work experience, with at least 5 years in a Financial Analyst role with emphasis on FP&A experience
Proven track record of being detailed and closure oriented
Superior analytical skills, combined with excellent business judgment and strong ability to clearly and concisely communicate with management level personnel
Very strong skills with Excel and other MS office applications
Active team player and works well under pressure
Organized, detail oriented individual with ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy of information
Integrity with confidential information
Creativity in solving complex problems
Ability to work independently in support of team objectives
Preferred Requirements:
BS in Finance/Accounting/Economics
MBA
Government Program finance experience
