Duties

  • Expert in logistics management processes, requirements, and systems, and provides technical advice and counsel both within and outside the organization.
  • Assigns and monitors the progress of daily tasks for the Logistics Branch, providing direction and guidance to a large team of contractors and civil servants who provide contract oversight and management of logistics operations at KSC.
  • Leads the team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload among employees; arranging for team member training; monitors and reports on the status and progress of work.
  • Develops and revises local policies and procedures to implement Agency Logistics policies, programs, and goals at KSC and serves as coach and facilitator in coordinating team initiatives, policy implementation, and consensus building.
  • Reports to the supervisor on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, and work processes, including individual and team training needs.
  • Prepare logistics program presentations and point papers responding to questions from, and briefs for all levels of management, NASA Headquarters, other federal agencies, commercial partners, contractors, and other commercial entities.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Federal regulations and NASA policies that apply to managing the lifecycle of Government Property.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:

  • Leading a large team to successfully analyze and assess problems, identify possible solutions or mitigations, and present findings;
  • Overseeing government Logistics Operations and adherence to government regulations;
  • Ensuring the implementation of policies, standards, and provisions related to the furnishing, utilization, and accountability of NASA-owned property.
