flight systems

We are a diverse team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

We need you to help lead an amazing team of valve engineers within the Blue Origin Engines engineering team. We design, build, and test or provide technical guidance for vendors for all valves used in Blue Origin’s engines and spaceflight systems. That’s a lot to cover, and we are growing our team to get it all done! Your team will be focused on component testing and procurement.

In this role you will lead a tight-knit team of 8-15 great engineers through the complete employee experience, including hiring, performance management, training and career development. You will mentor team members through designing, developing, building, and executing test setups using both established techniques and developing new standards for things no one has attempted before. You will mentor team members through technical management of vendors to ensure we hold everyone to the same high standards. You will work with product leaders to establish program staffing and budgets, and with technical specialists to improve processes and tools in areas such as test readiness and data reduction. You will also maintain and grow your own technical skills by contributing to and leading component testing and procurement activities.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise and leadership skills to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification. At Blue Origin, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
