The Propulsion & Fluids team at Firefly is responsible for the full lifecycle of propulsion and fluid systems hardware for our vehicles though design, analysis, manufacturing, and test. As our 1st stage engine manager for Alpha, you will be responsible for building, mentoring, and leading a team of passionate and talented engineers. In this role you will serve as a technical contributor responsible for reviewing the team�s output and interface across other cross-disciplinary teams within Firefly. We are looking for someone who can apply both their technical expertise and leadership skills to mentor and grow our team.


  • Lead a cross-functional team of design, analysis, & development engineers responsible for both the high-level engine architecture, and integrated detailed design and analysis of our Reaver engines.
  • Work alongside our analysis and stage teams to increase engine and vehicle performance
  • Drive design upgrades with the manufacturing teams to reduce part count, cost, and increase production rate.
  • Proven ability to practically apply engineering fundamentals to solve real, complex problems
  • Strategically plan projects and allocate resources, including both budget and personnel management, to achieve engine requirements supporting company goals
  • Provide mentorship and training opportunities to team to improve performance and career development



  • Bachelor�s Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience through the full product lifecycle development of engine hardware (either at system or component level)
  • 2+ years of proven experience leading and managing technical teams in both technical deliverables and career development.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in fluids, thermodynamics, and mechanics
  • Coordinate and execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing of flight hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to scale a team of engineers


  • Experience in aerospace flight production programs
  • History of developing solutions with partially defined requirements and changing criteria
  • Programming experience with at least one interpreted language (preferably Python or MATLAB) for model development.
  • Proficient with 3D & 2D CAD software packages such as Siemens NX.
