About the Role:  

Planet is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with strong operational and public company experience to help optimize the close process. You will work with finance, technical account and cross functionally to establish an efficient close process to provide timely financial reporting. A successful individual will be self-motivated—someone who can recognize how processes can improve and effectively implement positive changes. The candidate must also be able to build strong cross-functional relationships and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Manage and execute monthly accounting close activities and deliverables in NetSuite, including journal entries, account reconciliations, analytics and reporting, while ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Work with the Director of Accounting and Assistant Controller to shorten the close cycle
  • Analyze and reconcile complex Balance Sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Perform monthly flux analysis of Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts to ensure proper accrual and expense coding
  • Partner with cross-functional business partners and third parties to foster working relationships, implement best practices, support digital transformation initiatives, and drive continuous process improvements
  • Document all processes and procedures, create necessary accounting memos and standard operating procedures (SOP) in line with control activities
  • Support external audit and tax requirements. provides audit schedules, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as needed
  • Lead various system implementations. Previous experience in implementing Coupa or TripAction/Liquid a plus.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • Mix of public accounting,and public company preferred 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-tech company 
  • Demonstrated history of solving multiple complex operational and accounting challenges
  • 5-7 years in a role with a similar scope, 
  • Strong vendor management skills and experience, including application change management
  • Previous experience within a control or audit environment. 
  • Experience working with SOX compliance
  • Able to develop a scalable & flexible GL function to meet the company's rapid growth
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member in a time sensitive environment
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Netsuite, Coupa, TripActions/Liquid
