The Production Engineering Senior Manager will lead an engineering team that act as the key technical interface between the production value stream and the design engineering teams for the Engines Business Unit.  The leader will also champion efforts to identify, develop and deploy design for manufacturing methodologies to improve quality, reduce cost, improve producibility & optimize the production system.    

Additionally, the Senior Manager will be expected to coach, mentor, and develop their teams to enable success and at times may have to negotiate between multiple/conflicting interests to optimize the organization and meet multiple customer needs.  This leader will strategically ensure technical resources are effectively deployed across multiple programs, guide design for manufacturability & affordability efforts and support development activities for Production Engineering.  They will also be expected to support emergent factory/production support issues across multiple product lines which will include root cause corrective action and associated corrective action implementation support as required.  Technical leadership will be required as a non-advocate Subject Matter Expert ensuring product excellence through program gated reviews and as part of failure/after action investigations.

Qualifications :

  • BS or MS degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
  • 10+ years proven experience in design, manufacturing, systems integration and/or test experience
  • Passion for our mission and vision!
  • Experience with development, design, quality, manufacturing, and production engineering
  • Experience with first-of-a-kind systems, complex aerospace/launch vehicle development and/or other low-rate complex design & production systems
  • Experience with MRB processes and dispositions
  • Strong strategic, personnel, planning, and project management skills.
  • Highly organized collaborator with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal) with exceptional interpersonal skills that foster positive professional relationships and a successful track record of working in cross-discipline teams. 
  • Experience managing or leading an engineering team
  • Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to effectively team and communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within a geographically-dispersed organization.
  • Ability to effectively work across multiple teams, earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U. S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired :

  • Understanding of development product lifecycle management and associated gated/maturity reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR; TRL/MRL, etc)
  • Proficiency in business and engineering software (MS Office, Windchill, PLM, and similar).
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems / Software and processes. Previous experience with engineering change management and non-conformances.
  • ​Understanding of technical risk management and program mgmt best practices
  • Experience with complex aerospace manufacturing processes including machining, forming, castings, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, high precision cleaning, non-destructive evaluation/testing and assembly of high precision components & tight tolerance assemblies
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Mode, Effect & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Direct hands-on design & production experience with liaison and/or MRB experience in product development or low-rate initial production on Aerospace Vehicles and/or Engines
