Maxar, the world leader in earth intelligence, is seeking a Solutions Architect Director to join Maxarā€™s International Public Sector Joint EngagementĀ Team (JET).

This role requires a highly skilled technical sales leader as a member of Maxarā€™s Joint Engagement Team (JET). This critical role is focused on leading the technical team in solving challenges of our most complex customer solutions, including U.S. national security, defense, and intelligence, as well as broad Public Sector International clients.

As a Solutions Architect Director, you will be a matrixedĀ solution/technical sales leader/coach and a subject matter expert among a team of innovation professionals. You will interact across C-suite andĀ senior government and military officials, industry, and internally across Maxar regions and business units.

This lead role will require you to set and execute technical sales strategy and be responsible for leadingĀ and coachingĀ cross-functional international public sector teams. You will, with your team, deliver client value across all Maxar offerings supportingĀ governmentsā€™ national security and civil objectives.

As a trusted advisor, you will help customers solve complex problems by understanding their key pain points, missions, and concepts of operations.

Your success will be enabled and mentored via instruction and direction fromĀ theĀ Global JET leadership based in the Herndon, VA and Atlanta, GA, USA regions.


The JET Solutions Architect will be asked to provide technical / operational expertise to support a variety of tasks to include, but not limited to:

  • Direct responsibility forĀ International Public Sector JETĀ solution technical sales and strategy and activity globally.Ā  This includes leading technical resources and coaching regional sales and sales engineer teams in technical pre-sales aspects ofĀ the International public sector industry in concert with regional sales leadership.Ā 

  • Take a ā€œhands-onā€ approach when called for on top innovation projects, coaching sales, technical teams and business unit execs in technical and solution strategies.Ā 

  • Help in driving the design/development of custom products/solutions

  • Mentor, coach and advise technical sales professionals and leaders within the regions on concepts of operations, technical aspects and go to market strategies for national security-related solutions.Ā 

  • Rigorous technical and solutions qualification of innovation projectsĀ and sales opportunitiesĀ focusing resources on those opportunities/projects whichĀ differentiate in the marketplace.Ā 

  • Interact directly with customers and their technical experts to review, understand, and gather requirements and convey those technical requirements to Maxar internal teams

  • Articulate and clearly communicate with multiple Maxar stakeholders and leaders with consistency and integrity.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and willing and able to obtain a security clearance.

  • 10+ years of enterprise experience in relevant technical and business fields in remote sensing, defense, and intelligence or geospatial industry.

  • 10+ years of matrixed sales experience, interfacing with internal stakeholders in professional services, products, and operations.Ā 

  • Deep customer knowledge and network.Ā 

  • Previous experience in technical/solution salesĀ in theĀ NationalĀ / Ministry-level space intelligence,Ā earth observationĀ industry, or similar defense and intelligenceĀ work.

  • Experience in translating / distilling complex customer requirements and concepts of operations into winning solutions and proposals

  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal and negotiating skills.Ā 

  • Results-oriented team player with a demonstrated high level of integrity.Ā 

  • Demonstrated creativity in developing winning solutions.Ā 

  • Works well in a dynamic environment where some of the parameters are unknown andĀ changeĀ isĀ a given.

  • An ability to navigate large matrixed corporations with a startup-like ā€œGSDā€ factor.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, other languages an asset.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant technologies, products, services, and methods.Ā 

  • Excellent industry and market awareness.Ā 

  • Able to travel, averaging about 35% with potential peaks up to 50%-60% travel.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a people manager for an enterprise technical sales organizationĀ 

  • Bachelorā€™s degree in an Engineering Discipline (Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering)

  • Experience in AI/ML, 3D data for simulation and training and other use cases

  • Able to analyze customer requirements and perform geospatial feasibility studies using tools such as Excel, ArcGIS, QGIS, STK, MATLAB, and Python

  • Possess a current/active security clearance

  • Existing relevant intimate customer relationships

The compensation range for this position is $139,000 to $231,000 annually plus target incentive, and is dependent on location, skills, and experience.
