Our Littleton, CO business unit (formerly Deep Space Systems) specializes in cradle to grave engineering design, development, production, and test of spacecraft cameras, avionics, electronics, and vision navigation systems. We have an opportunity for an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to develop the flight, ground support, and test software that drive our hardware products.

Our Redwire division has been in business for over 20 years and our cutting-edge products are currently being utilized on missions with NASA, the Department of Defense, and several commercial space missions. Help us continue to successfully create and deliver state of the art hardware in our engaging, fast paced, team orientated environment by joining our team!


We have a current opportunity for an experienced Sr. Software Engineer located at our facility in Littleton, CO.  In this role you will contribute to all aspects of software development and maintenance on our existing and future hardware products. Success on this team requires someone with the interest and ability to learn new languages and technologies and who is detail orientated and organized. The ideal candidate will be motivated, positive, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. 


  • Developing software applications based on customer requirements
  • Serving as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams
  • Providing on-site operational support, implementation guidance and special test activities
  • Overseeing the development of product and user documentation
  • Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle which includes software requirements, design, development, integration, test, and maintenance
  • Assisting in task planning, estimation, scheduling, and staffing
  • Communicating key project data to team members and management
  • Applying best practices and standard operating procedures
  • Creating innovative solutions to meet our company’s technical needs
  • Developing and executing software test and correcting software bugs
  • Mentoring junior developers through advice, coaching, and occasional training opportunities

Ideal Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, science, software engineering, or other related field
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency working with C++ and/or C
  • Must be US Citizen


Desired Skills

  • Master’s Degree in computer engineering, science, software engineering, or another related field
  • Knowledge of development and support flight software for aerospace electronics
  • Prior experience with Aerospace hardware interface and debugging
  • Development software technical documentation experience
  • Experience with:
    • Python, Linux      
    • Java, Django
    • Yocto, Doxygen
    • GIT and You Track
  • Ability to attain a security clearance

Pay Range
$114,500 - $?

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
