As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists and engineers, you will directly support Blue Origin’s success through leading the development of standards, processes, and tools for manufacturing engineering including manufacturing bill of materials, work instructions, design for manufacturability, non-conformance processing, and process specifications. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of manufacturing process creation, testing, and analysis.

As an authority, you will champion and develop manufacturing process requirements and standards while supporting the use of those processes across the organization. You will embed yourself into the manufacturing organizations and provide your expertise in design for manufacturability, process development, and execution through hands-on floor support, communication, training, and documentation. Additionally, you will act as a negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests in order to make the organization optimized.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in process definition, development, deployment, qualification and verification
  • Proficiency guiding technicians, engineers and quality as a domain authority
  • Experience supporting the production floor and development of process control measures
  • Utilization of lean manufacturing methods for process development and problem solving
  • Proven understanding of common fabrication and integration processes and machines including mills, lathes, welding, sheet-metal bending, lifting/rigging, welding, assembly, inspection, etc.
  • Tested approach to quality, attention to detail, and dedication
  • Effective communication that is clear and conveys humility
  • Self-directed and able to balance several tasks at once
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or other relevant engineering field
  • 2+ years of experience developing manufacturing process requirements and documentation
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Familiar with applicable industry standards
  • Excellent technical writing, grammar, and presentation experience
  • Familiar with the Jules software
  • Aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle experience
