who is preoccupied with big questions: Where do we go from here? What are the limits of innovation and exploration? How do we continue to evolve as a species?

SUMMARY: This position will work on-site at our headquarters in Houston,Texas as part of a diverse and agile team of integrators and aerospacetechnicians in the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) team. As theSenior Process & Procedure Engineer, you will ultimately be responsible forthe successful development, continuous improvement, and embedment of processesand procedures specific to the final assembly, integration and testing of primary,secondary and tertiary flight structures, and systems of the Axiom SpaceStation. You will be responsible for driving the implementation of digitaltools supporting these processes and procedures for the AI&T lifecycle.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with resolution of assembly, integration, and test related non-conformances as well as implementation of root cause corrective actions.
  • Work with technicians, subject matter experts, and responsible engineers to develop processes and procedures for assembly, integration, and testing of the space station’s systems and subsystems.
  • Write work instructions, test plans, and procedures for space station assembly, integration and testing (to include space station systems and subsystems).
  • Ensure safety policies are embedded in processes and procedure during assembly, integration, and test planning and operations.
  • Support as needed on and off site launch operations to prepare the vehicle for flight.
  • Oversee the document management system and document distribution matrix for all Assembly, Integration and Test procedures.
  • Ensure that all personnel abide by the document management protocol and standards.
  • Provide effective and efficient document control services.
  • Ensure timely processing of Assembly, Integration and Test documentation.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret data, and create reports, trackers, and dashboards.
  • Understand process capabilities through critical data analysis and in depth understanding of the product.
  • Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities/projects.
  • Monitor and reduce process variation using process improvement and statistical techniques.
  • Facilitate training on processes, procedures, and digital tools for AI&T personnel.
  • Collaborate with planners, schedulers, and integrators to make sure the creation of processes and procedures supports the integrated master schedule and the AI&T plan for every element/module of the Axiom Space station.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or other related engineering discipline.
  • 5-10 years of current professional experience in the aircraft, spacecraft, automotive, or oil & gas industries.
  • At least 4 years of the above-mentioned professional experience – with a proven track record – in:
  • Developing, writing, executing, and updating assembly, integration and test processes and procedures – with a strong safety focus
  • Using strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Working in 100,000 class or better clean room environments
  • Creating assembly, integration and test processes and procedures
  • Working successfully in/with multiple disciplines and/or team environment
  • Experience working with teams for the integration and test of a spacecraft/satellite/launch vehicle or complex system projects.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication techniques, integration processes, test planning, and quality control.
  • Experience developing, writing, and updating assembly and test procedures (Epsilon3 preferred).
  • Willingness to coach/lead junior engineers on integration projects.
  • Strong technical writing and (horizontal and vertical) communication skills.
  • Flexible mindset and strong sense of accountability, integrity, and team focus with extensive multi-project and organizational experience.
  • Knowledge and experience developing cross-functional relationship mapping diagrams and tools (i.e., SIPOC, RACI, Multiple Swim lane process mapping).
  • Must be willing to travel to support operational activities and launches as required (Up to 10%).
  • Some experience with configuration management, requirements management processes, requirements change processes, risk management processes.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD and Virtual Reality visualization software (SolidWorks and Blender preferred).
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Windows & Office).
  • Experience working in a SCRUM/AGILE environment and using AGILE project management software (JIRA & MS Teams preferred).
  • Knowledge or experience working with ASME, NASA, AWS, OSHA, FAA and other industry and government standards (highly desired).
  • Ability to develop processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100.
  • Expertise with the implementation of root cause analysis principles, lean manufacturing, and six sigma (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).
  • Experience creating and delivering training material to internal and external stakeholders.

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

 Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
