Relativity is the first and only company to automate aerospace manufacturing by integrating intelligent robotics, software, and proprietary metal 3D printing technology. Disrupting 60 years of aerospace, Relativity offers a radically simplified supply chain, building a rocket with 100x fewer parts in less than 60 days. Our long-term goal is to upgrade humanity’s industrial base on Earth and on Mars.
The Stage Engineering Team is responsible for the design, analysis, and validation of our launch vehicle. As an instrumentation engineer, you will be accountable for the ownership of sensors and data acquisition for control and validation of all launch vehicle systems as part of a world-class engineering hardware team. You will work collaboratively with the structures, mechanisms, fluids, avionics, additive, manufacturing, test and loads teams to design and execute a plan for gathering all the data necessary to successfully launch and recover a rocket. A high degree of autonomy along with an ability to prioritize work in our fast-paced environment is required. We believe varied perspectives & backgrounds strengthen our team. Prior experience in aerospace is not required.
What you’ll do:
You will play a key role in supporting the Terran 1 stage test and launch campaigns as well as developing the stage architecture of the upcoming Terran R vehicle. You will be responsible for the full design cycle, including conceptualization, design, analysis, release, and testing of launch vehicle instrumentation. This includes the selection of sensors for fluids and mechanical systems related to Stage 1, Stage 2, or Payload Accommodations. You will need to think creatively to leverage our additive technology to integrate the design in a way that reduces mass, part count, processes and tooling required. Attention to detail will be critical.
