About the Role:  

Come and help us to build our customer platform frontend and make an impact on Earth! 

As a frontend engineer, you will help customers by building beautiful and fast user experiences that delight our customers. 

In this role, you will be challenged to: push the envelope in building and rendering UIs that often include geospatial data quickly, have a sharp product and business sense, and think big yet deliver value incrementally.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Work as an integral member of a cross-functional team focused on improving customer journeys such as:

  • Building out user experiences to task, browse, and analyze hi-resolution geospatial data

  • Optimize slippy maps to work performantly with many layers and POIs

  • Build an intuitive navigation experience for the Planet Tasking Dashboard webapp

  • Operate as a specialist that understands user interaction behaviors and partners closely with designers to deliver great experiences

  • Help develop a vision and roadmap to improve our frontend stack

  • Help to sequence and de-risk projects to ensure timely delivery of value

  • Collaborate with product and other cross-functional stakeholders to co-create an impactful customer experience.

What You Bring:

Experience in:

  • Javascript, including concepts like asynchronous programming, closures, types, TypeScript and ES6 
  • React, complete understanding of its main fundamentals like Virtual DOM, component lifecycle, etc. 
  • Experience with writing automated tests (e.g. Jest, React Testing Library, WDIO)
  • Building delightful UI/UX
  • Understanding of REST APIs
  • Experience in Git, TDD and CI/CD
  • Working in cross-functional teams that put customer requirements first
  • A track record of designing, building, and evolving software systems at scale
