About the role
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for the engineering support to production departments within the Auckland Production Complex. Reporting to the Director of Production (NZ), they work closely with Production Managers and Supervisors in Composites, Avionics, Mechanical, Propulsion and Integration teams. They also work closely with Design and Quality Engineering Managers to implement new product and revise existing product.

Managing a team of Manufacturing Engineers, they manage a customer focussed department, with their primary goal being to enable the required rate of production output, at the required quality. This team manages all aspects of the manufacturing process, from design for manufacture validation, documentation, quality investigation and improvements.

The ME Manager is also responsible for the shared resources of maintenance planning and the manufacturing workshop. This contains machining centres, 3D printing, fabrication and tooling assembly.

****Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to create and deliver accurate presentations for design and manufacturing readiness reviews
  • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced iterative design environment
  • Experience modelling with 3D CAD software eg: Solidworks, Inventor, NX/Unigraphics, Catia
  • Has lead major improvement projects. Including Capex, People and process design.
  • Proven track record of year on year process improvement activities.
  • Has successfully introduced new product to the shop floor having been part of the pre-development design for manufacture process.
